In that case they can price Sony, Sab and Max at Rs.11 instead of 12 and it won't cause the pack price to change and those who want these 3 channels will rather go for the pack and get the other channels as well rather than subscribe to the 3 as a-la-carte. Trai has set 12rs as the upper limit, but the Broadcasters are free to price it anywhere below it.

It's contrasting how TRAI is having to set ceiling tariffs for the broadcasting sector and at the same time set floor tariffs for the telecom sector.
True. Such a shame that trai made the customers to believe in a ruse that its being customer friendly and customers were paying extra for the channel that they didn't watch. Played, trai, is what I shall say now. It's disturbing though.

I feel all broadcasters will increase price of all low price channels and try to create problems. They never ready to give banefit to customers. They all are big robbers. Trai is leader of them. Main problem still ncf, which we need to still pay minimum 153

No that's not what I meant, if the current ammendment to the tariff order gets applied without any changes by the High court or supreme court then we will indeed see the monthly TV bills reduce. I was saying that for the broadcasting sector TRAI is having to fix the upper limit where the Broadcasters won't be able to price above that limit so as to prevent forceful uptake of unwanted channels, whereas in the telecom sector TRAI is mulling over the lower limit for voice and data where the operators can't price below that set level for per GB and per minute so as to prevent predatory pricing.

They are free to try taking that route and when they see thousands of subscribers giving up linear tv and moving to OTT platforms for video consumption they will rethink their decision and decide to reduce prices of flagship channels instead of increasing those of tier 2 channels.

No price update till now on site of sony, showing old price till 31st Jan 20
