Why english movie and entertainment channels show subtitles?

It is very disturbing

They speak in english why they put subtitles

Because the accent is different so people have problem in understanding it. Although now after watching so many Movies and TV shows, I can understand it somewhat.

Hope in future, DTH and TV channels do something about it so that we can on/off it with our remote

I think there is option in every STB to change subtitle to switch it off. But, It won't work.

ya hike bro you are right. just like internet downloaded movies have stream 1 as video stream 2 as english and others can be adjust for extra languages + subtitles so we can turn it off in player, same way atleast dth providers should request broadcaster to provide subtitle via extra feed so it can be turned off in stb.

every GEC should provide subtitle in English ...so rhat I can watch a south Indian GEC Or Reality show...a south Indian can watch Bengali show without knowing respective language.

Ya.
IMO
It should be given in English & hindi too. But it'll be disturbing & irritating for regular viewers of respective regional language.

viewers from other languages will be obviously less as compared to original language. We can easily compare popularity of original & dubbed content.

It'll be useful if there is also a option to turn it off. Then only broadcaster will think on it.
