No way zee Kannada has 1600 + movie library.
Udaya movies has around 700 - 800
Ckc has 550 - 650
Zk has 490 - 600
Star suvarna - 300
I think they are considering dubbed

In Bangla HD Movie Channel Market - the Thinking of the Broadcasters are different.

ZEEL:-
Actually When ZEEL planned & Launched Zee Bangla Cinema - it acquired many Bangla Movie Titles of Different Eras. They possess Black & White - 70'S - 80'S - 90'S Movie Titles hugely and used to Air on Regular Basis.
When Star launched Jalsha Movies HD then ZEEL felt the Heat and planned for ZBC HD too. They also received License from MIB & Backend Testing was started in while ZEEL planned for Puja Launch.
During Testing - The Engineers & Programming Team found that only the Recent New Movies are available for HD Broadcast but on the other hand the Convertion of Huge Library from Old Stuffs to Late 90 Titles are not so easy to Convert into HD Format. It's too tough to get adequate Movies to run 24 hrs HD Channel.
So at the very Initial Stage - After 7 days of Testing ZEEL dropped the Plan as Lack of Required Content to run HD Movie Channel and Converted the License to launch other HD Channel. (May be Zee Talkies HD).
ZBC HD launch thus delayed for indefinite time and they shifted / or planned to Telecast New Bangla Title in HD first on Zee Bangla HD with Zee Bangla Originals on Every Sunday at 11.30 am.

Star:-
When Star India launched Star Jalsha Movies HD - the HD offerings also offered Limited Content and started Repeating Movies every alternate Day. While Star Jalsha Movies SD Version offered a Vast Library.
But at present Situation Changed and Most (80%) of the Jalsha Movies Library are converted in HD Format and started Airing.
The Advantage here is SD & HD Version of SJM are not a Mirror Channel and offers different Movies at Same Show Time.

Viacom 18 (Colors Bangla ):-
At First Colors Bangla was not in that hurry to offer Separate Movie Channel as they used to show Movies on Sundays only later on Afternoon Slot created. When CB HD was launched then SD Version used to have Movies on Afternoon while HD Version used to have Serials in card. After 4 months V18 decided to simulcast Afternoon Movies and so on Bangla Movies started airing on HD Format. But till nowadays SD & HD Movie Offerings are different in Many occasions.
Recently V18 launched CBC for 24 hrs which possess titles of Movies from Old to again 80'S - 90'S Stuffs which areally again difficult to convert into HD one. So CBC HD plan till not taken by V18. They decided to Broadcast any WTP of New Movies on their GEC Line Up - CB & CB HD.

So these are the Latest Scenario from the Bangla Movie Channels whether SD or HD offerings are concerned.

I agree with @JollyLNB bro that ZT HD & ZP HD. They should analyse the demand first and they should move ahead with the launch. Also main reason behind this channel launch is to make there local packs more stronger. This are the two regions where they're successful with GEC. But to make the pack attractive movie channel is must.

But I don't get the name they're giving to Kannada movie channel. Picchar sounds a bit weird and not something a premium company will offer.

Yes.....remember. ......When ZEEL called off the plan for ZBC HD they converted the License for Zee Cinemalu HD. Thanx @Shantanu Bhai for the input.

By the way what's the status of ZBC now?

Present Scenario for acquisition of latest Bangla Movies + Old / Semi Old Classic Bangla Titles have increased on Zee Platform. Television Rights for Many uncommon Movie Titles along with Movies from Front Liner Commercial Houses are now on the Board.(Except SVF Titles which are on Exclusive Deal with Star India). Also Zee Bangla Originals New Stories are being Filmised on HD Camera (which used to Air on ZB HD every Sunday 11.30 am)
But again ZEEL is hesitating to apply or Renaming License Name in favour of ZBC HD. They still thinks that launching ZBC HD right now (specially after Post TRAI Regime) will not be worth full in terms of attracting Investors & Business.
In Upcoming days ZEEL is under planing something more Big with more Surprises (which ZEEL will announce in details in accordance) for ZBC SD Version for its Subscribers.

Off-Topic :- A Question raised from Yesterday Night in My Mind that if TATA|sky Bangla Cinema HD can be launched where previously Angel Digital converted All their Stuffs (Old-New-B&W Classics) into HD then is this too tough for ZEEL to convert all ZBC Stuffs into HD one? (After Exit of Angel from TS Platform nowadays TS used to telecast all Stuffs of TATA|sky Bangla Cinema SD service in 16:9 Format)

Maybe they Acquired unsold , dubbed and Renewed Some movies
But Currently Udaya TV have 1000 movies
Second largest movie library of 550 Titles with Star Suvarna ( Syndication Movies not included )
Colors Kannada 475 movies
Some reasons star Suvarna not Telecasting all movies
If Zee Kannada have library of 1600 movies then within a 6 months Zee Picchar become no 1 movie channel

Because nowadays Udaya TV channels Repeat the movies monthly 4 to 5 times
Also Star Suvarna plus Telecasting 4 movies daily 6 am , 12pm , 6pm 9pm
Before they Telecasted 6 movies everyday
So theses 2 network lost some movies
No problem to CK because Colors Kannada created new library of 455 movies last year
