Doordarshan to enable several more channels on HD during 2021-22

India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is set to enable several more Doordarshan on High Definition (HD) in the coming months according to Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekar Vempati. The enabling of more Doordarshan channels in HD is likely to be carried out during 2021-22.

Doordarshan had last year in October 2020 launched the High Definition (HD) feed of DD India that was made available on DD Free Dish and YouTube. The High Definition (HD) version of Prasar Bharati’s English news channel is the third HD channel in Doordarshan’s offerings.

Doordarshan’s DD National and DD News are also available currently in High Definition (HD) mode. DD National HD is available on DD Free Dish, DTT, and YouTube. Prasar Bharati CEO however didn’t reveal the channels that would be enabled in HD from Doordarshan’s offerings in the recent future.

The broadcaster has in recent days aggressively expanded the reach of HD and SD versions of DD India across the globe with distribution deals locked in for North America, South America, the Caribbean, Central Asia, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom.

Not just @DDNational, but @DDNewslive and @DDIndialive are also available in HD. You may ask for the same to be carried by your cable/dth provider. Several more Doordarshan channels will be enabled on HD soon during 2021-2022.
