India Today Group is all set to shutdown its Delhi NCR focused Hindi News channel Delhi Aaj Tak from the midnight of 30th June. The shutdown announcement coincidentally came on the same day Sony Pictures Network India announced the shutdown of its English GEC AXN and AXN HD.
TV Today Network Limited on Saturday in a communique to distribution platform operators in Delhi NCR notified the shutdown of the channel effective midnight of June 30, 2020. The operations and transmission of the channel is getting discontinued. The break came courtesy of our community forum member Akash Solanki.
Delhi Aaj Tak is a 24 hour Hindi news television channel which covers Delhi NCR. It is owned by TV Today Network and a sister channel of Aaj Tak. It was launched in December 2007.
Back when the New Tariff Order was implemented in 2019, India Today Group had not mentioned in the channel in its Reference Interconnect Offer. However, the channel continued to be on air with online transmission on Aaj Tak website, JioTV, Disney+ Hotstar and others. Interestingly, the BroadcastSeva portal had last year also notified the renaming of ‘Delhi Aaj Tak’ license to ‘Aaj Tak Desh’.
DreamDTH has reached out the Marketing Team of Aaj Tak to gather more information on the shutdown. We will update this article as and when India Today responds.
