Maha Movie and Manoranjan TV restrained from airing ZEEL films without license

Zee Entertainment had earlier this month moved Bombay High Court to restrain both channels from airing ‘Jung’ and ‘Kartavya’ without obtaining license from ZEEL for the same. Both the channels were broadcasting the films on their channels without license from ZEEL.

ZEEL on collecting data from BARC India discovered that Jung had been broadcasted 37 times while Kartavya 32 times on Maha Movie while Jung had been broadcasted 42 times and Kartavya 9 times on Manoranjan TV till July 2, 2020.

According to Live Law report, the Hon’ble Bombay High Court held that the that unauthorized broadcast/exploitation of the films was a violation of the copyright vested in ZEEL and passed a temporary order and injunction restraining Teleone Consumer Products Pvt. Ltd. and Creative Channel Advertising and Marketing Pvt. Ltd.
