The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in late April had released the draft guidelines on Uplinking and Downlinking Policy Guidelines 2011 for private satellite TV channels and teleports.

The Ministry had initially set a period of 15 days for submission of comments which was set to expire yesterday. The Ministry has now extended the submission timeline for the same.

The Ministry had received several requests from the stakeholders for the extension of the time limit of 15 days for furnishing their comments in view of the lockdown due to COVID-19.

The Ministry considering the requests has decided to extend the time limit for submission of the comments by the stakeholders up to 31st May 2020. The Ministry’s draft guidelines cover a range of things including uplinking and downlinking of television channels.
