MIB renames Malai Murasu satellite TV channel license as ‘Hornbill TV’

The license was initially granted to Horizon Satellite Media on 12th January 2011 to operate ‘Horizon News’ in the ‘NEWS’ category with uplinking and downlinking permission to operate in all Indian languages.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) yesterday updated its permitted satellite TV channel database with the renaming of Horizon Satellite Media’s ‘Malai Murasu’ satellite TV channel license as ‘Hornbill TV’. The broadcaster’s other TV license named ‘Y TV’ has also been renamed ‘DA News Plus’ last week.

The license was initially granted to Horizon Satellite Media on 12th January 2011 to operate ‘Horizon News’ in the ‘NEWS’ category with uplinking and downlinking permission to operate in all Indian languages. The license was subsequently renamed Jai Tamil TV, Malai Murasu, and now Hornbill TV. The license has permission to operate from Intelsat 17.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has also renamed News24 Broadcast owned satellite TV license named ‘JK Channel 24*7 News’. The broadcaster’s license is now named ‘News 24 Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh’ signalling its intent to expand with a new regional Hindi news channel aimed at catering to Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
