The free preview of Free to Air (FTA) channels Sony Pal, Colors Rishtey, Zee Anmol, and Star Utsav offered by the big four broadcasters free to all its viewers to keep them entertained while they remained at home during the lockdown has expired at the end of May.
The Indian Broadcasting Foundation had back in March end announced had announced that it will provide 4 of its pay channels for free to all viewers for the next 2 months. Sony Pal, Star Utsav, Zee Anmol and Colors Rishtey were available to all the viewers across the country for a period of two months free of charge on all DTH and cable TV networks.
The same was applicable from 1st April 2020 to 31st May 2020, which expired one day ago. Direct to Home (DTH) operators have started making the channels encrypted with the special free preview over which had the I&B Ministry bend the regulatory compliances to make the 4 Hindi GEC channels go Free To Air (FTA) within a short period and sorting out the logistics to make sure DPOs make the channel FTA immediately.
With the country heading towards gradual unlocking in non-containment zones, the broadcaster seemingly have chosen not to extend the free preview.
