Sony YAY! launches in Malaysia in Tamil language

Sony YAY! will be accessible to the subscribers of unifi TV under the Varnam Plus Pack and the Ultimate Pack.

Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited (Sony Pictures Network) India’s kids’ entertainment channel Sony YAY! has entered the Malaysian market with its launch on Telekom Malaysia Berhad (unifi TV) in the country.  

Sony YAY! made its debut in Malaysia on July 1, 2022, expanding its presence further across the South Asian region. It will be available there in the Tamil language on channel number 303. 

The current line-up of the channel in Malaysia includes seven popular shows- Sab Jholmaal Hai (Honey Bunny), Guru Aur Bhole, Taarak Mehta Ka Chhota Chashma, Kicko & Super Speedo, Paap-O-Meter, Prince Jai aur Dumdaar Viru and HaGoLa.

Malaysia has the largest Tamil-speaking population of 1.8 million people after India and Sri Lanka and Kids in these households will be the target audience of Sony YAY!. The Indian diaspora of the region accounts for close to 6.8% of its population which will further help in the growth of the channel. 

“This partnership with Telekom Malaysia Berhad will help us cater to the appetite of the rapidly growing audience across the Malaysian market and solidify our position in the global kid’s entertainment segment by bringing popular Indian shows to global audiences,” said Neeraj Arora, EVP and Head – International Business, Sony Pictures Networks India.

Sony YAY! will be accessible to the subscribers of unifi TV under the Varnam Plus Pack and the Ultimate Pack. Unifi TV also added two other Indian channels namely Zee Tamil (LCN 302) and WION (LCN 613) on its platform in July.
