Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has today released the “Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report” for the July- September 2019 quarter. DTH operator Tata Sky and MSO Siti Network have emerged as the leaders in DTH and Cable Industry with the largest active subscriber base at the end of September 2019.
According to the report, the total active subscriber base of Pay DTH operators has attained around 69.3 million in addition to the subscribers of DD Free Dish at the end of 30th September 2019. The Pay DTH market at the end of the April-June 2019 quarter stood at 68.92 million.
Tata Sky with a share of 31.61% total active subscriber base emerged as the largest DTH operator in July-September ahead of Dish TV which had a share of 31.23%. Airtel Digital TV with a share of 23.39% active subscriber base stood at third position. Sun Direct stood last with a share of 13.78% subscriber base.
Tata Sky had earlier dethroned Dish TV as the largest DTH operator in April-June 2019 quarter with a 32% share of active subscriber base while Dish TV had a 31% share of active subscriber base. Airtel Digital TV back then had a share of 23% while Sun Direct had a share of 14%.
Siti Network emerges as Largest MSO operator in July-September 2019
Essel Group-owned Siti Network meanwhile has emerged as the largest MSO in the July-September 2019 with a total active subscriber base of 9.12 million. GTPL Hathway emerged as the second-largest MSO with Hathway and Den Network at 3rd and 4th positions respectively.
There are 13 major MSOs/HITS operators as on 30th September 2019 having a subscriber base greater than one million. Siti Network, GTPL Hathway, Den Network, Hathway Digital, TACTV, KCCL, Fastway, IndusInd (HITS), KAL Cables, Asianet Digital, VK Digital, IndusInd (CATV) and E-Infrastructure and Entertainment India Pvt Ltd are among the 13 major MSOs/HITS operators.
The 13 major HITS/MSOs form a market of around 41.58 million subscribers in which Siti Network has a share of 22%. Reliance controlled GTPL, Hathway and Den Network have a combined share of 36% market while TACTV has a share of 7%. KCCL and Fastway have a share of 6% each while Kal Cables, IndusInd HITS, IndusInd CATV, and Asianet Digital TV have a share of 4% each. VK Digital and E-Infrastructure have a share of 3% each.
