Direct to Home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has increased the monthly subscription fee of its ‘Tata Sky Binge’ service which brings content from multiple leading OTT platforms. The price revision will be going live tonight.
The monthly subscription fee for Tata Sky Binge which currently costs Rs 249 per month is all set to have a 20% hike i.e a Rs 50 hike at midnight which will increase the monthly subscription fee to Rs 299. The price hike will reflect in your accounts and Tata Sky’s website tonight.
The development was highlighted in a Tata Sky’s press release earlier today which is carrying the revised Tata Sky Binge pricing. The price hike comes along with the introduction of Voot Select and Voot Kids onboard Tata Sky Binge furthering strengthening its OTT play. Tata Sky had recently also strengthened its OTT offerings on Tata Sky Binge+ with ZEE5 onboarding it.
Tata Sky Binge was launched in May last year with access to OTT platforms such as Hotstar, Sun NXT, Eros Now, and Hungama Play with a single subscription fee of Rs 249 a month. Tata Sky has over time strengthened its OTT play with subsequent deals and now has 8 OTT platforms onboard its Binge service. The introduction of 4 OTT platforms since March 2020 has resulted in the 20% hike. Tata Sky Binge now offers content from Disney+ Hotstar Premium, ZEE5, Voot Select, Voot Kids, SunNxt, Hungama Play, Eros Now, and ShemarooMe via one interface with single sign-in.
299/- For 8 OTTs Per Month Is A Nice Deal.Even The One Month Disney+ Hotstar Premium Costs 299/- Per Month.
I think they need to offer different subscriptions with Binge+. Let’s say they offer basic Tata Sky On Demand for ₹99. And let user’s buy OTTs as add ons. With that they push plans with expensive OTT’s like Netflix with a premium price tag.
