In the new TRAI tariff regime, Tata Sky has launched Room TV service for its Multi TV customers through which they can select different channels on their different boxes and pay accordingly. Now to simplify this channel selection process Tata Sky has added new SMS commands which can add or drop a la carte channels for any specific set-top box.

In multi TV connections each set-top box has the same subscriber ID but different Box ID. To Add any Channel now you can SMS “ADD [Channel number] [Box ID]” and to drop SMS “DROP [Channel number] [Box ID]” from the registered mobile number to 56633.

For Example

To Add: SMS [ADD 114 1234] to 56633 in case you want to add DD National on your STB having Box ID- 1234.

To Remove: SMS [DROP 114 1234] to 56633 in case you want to remove DD National on your STB having Box ID- 1234.

Box ID is a 4 digit number which can be found on the top right corner of the Home Screen on each set-top box. Users need to press Home button on their remote to access the Home Screen.

These commands will also work through WhatsApp for free. To enable Tata Sky WhatsApp service you can give a missed call to 92296 92296 from RMN, then add +91 1800 208 6633 to your contacts and WhatsApp anything to this number. Through this service, you can do 8 different account related modifications.

  1. Earlier it was pain to search and select individual channels. Now it’s more convenient to browse and select as channels are available genre wise. Movie channels will benefit from this as small movie channels are left out from selection. Good initiative by Tata Sky.
