TDSAT restriction on functioning extended up to April 14

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has extended the restriction on the functioning of the tribunal till April 14 in view of the spread of COVID-19.

The tribunal after reviewing the situation in the country extended the restriction which was earlier set to lapse on April 1. The tribunal noted that in view of the Ministry of Home Affairs order regarding the nationwide lockdown for a period of 21 days it had decided to extend the restriction on its functioning.

TDSAT said, “With the approval of Hon’ble Chairperson the directions contained in the earlier circular dated 16.3.2020, except clause 3 in view of complete lockdown, shall continue to remain valid till 14.4.2020.”

TDSAT will only hear urgent matters, for which the said party has to contact the Deputy Registrar who will decide the urgency and intimate his decision to the party. A review on the situation will done on 14 April to chart the further course.

According to the TDSAT website, there has not been any fresh matters listed for urgent hearing during the period.
