Zee Entertainment is all set to expand its Marathi portfolio with the introduction of Marathi Music channel ‘Zee Vajwa’ which has been in the pipeline for over a year. Zee today notified a new Reference Interconnection Offer that will get into effect from 10th October 2020 post which the channel may launch at any point in time.
Zee Vajwa will be available to a-la-carte subscribers at a monthly rate of Rs 0.10 excluding taxes. Given that the broadcaster is inserting Zee Vajwa in place of the soon to be shutdown channel ‘Zee ETC’ it remains to be seen if the channel will be available in existing bouquets or not.
The launch will strengthen ZEEL’s portfolio in Marathi market which currently consists of Zee Marathi, Zee Marathi HD, Zee Talkies, Zee Talkies HD, and Zee Yuva. The launch of Zee Vajwa marks its entry into another genre in Marathi market strengthening its portfolio.
The launch has been in pipeline for over a year with Zing inadvertently revealing the pending launch of the channel having leaked a 30 second promo. Earlier this year in April, ZEEL was seen testing Zee Vajwa logo on Zee ETC which further confirmed that the channel was in the pipeline.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) at some point in time this year allowed the renaming of ZEEL’s Big Thrill license to Zee Vajwa paving the way for the imminent launch of the channel.
At the time of filing this story, the test signal and social media handles of Zee Vajwa are up and running indicating the imminent launch of Zee Vajwa.
