The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has given its nod to Zee Vajwa and TV9 Bangla among other license name changes which have been approved recently. The 4 license name changes are over and above the Enterr10 and Enterr10 Movies license name change which DreamDTH reported earlier last evening. The Ministry’s database has gone live with these license name changes late night, which were earlier not live at the time of filing the earlier story.

Zee Vajwa, and TV9 regional channels among other license name changes approved by MIB

Zee Vajwa, TV9 Bangla, TV9 Telugu and Rongeen TV have been given the green light by the I&B Ministry to initiate their live operations. Separately, MIB has also given Enterr10 Group the green light for ‘Enterr10 Movies’ which is likely to come at the expense of Shaandaar Cinema license which has been renamed.

Big Thrill, TV1, TV9, and Tamasha have made way for the respective licenses to be granted the license name change.

The Ministry’s database however continues to remain out of date with ‘Dhinchaak‘ among other not changes not updated. The database seemingly is being updated gradually.

TV9 Network is expected to soon expand its network with the launch of few more regional channels. TV9’s CEO Barun Das had earlier stated that the launch of the channels had to be put on hold due to COVID-19. ABCPL going by the Ministry’s database has currently got the license to launch TV9 Bangla. The license of TV9 Telugu although old has only recently been incorporated in the Ministry’s database. TV9 Tamil seems yet to be granted license going by the database.

Rongeen TV on the other hand is an existing Bengali Kids channel which was launched in June last year. The channel was earlier using another channel’s TV license, has switched to its own license in mid June vacating Whistle TV slot on GSAT-30.

For the unaware, ZEEL CEO and MD Punit Goenka in Q3 FY 20 Investors Call stated that ZEE was preparing to launch two more channels in the coming months. Out of the two, Zee Picchar was the first one which launched in March whereas the second one is pending. The latter is likely to be Zee Vajwa.

Zing TV had inadvertently in November 2019 leaked a 30 second promo of Zee Vajwa which hints that the channel will be a Marathi music channel. The 30-second promo starts with the audience calling on the DJ to play a song after which Zin Zin Zingaat mashup song can be heard to which the audience dances. The promo ends with the logo of Zee Vajwa being shown along with its tagline.

The channel’s tagline is “Fakt Marathich Wajnaar” which means only Marathi will play. Zee already has a strong presence in the Marathi market with 6 channels namely Zee Marathi, Zee Talkies, Zee Yuva, Zee 24 Taas, Zee Marathi HD and Zee Talkies HD.

Recently in mid April, Zee Vajwa logo was spotted on ETC Bollywood which further confirmed that the channel will launch at the some point of time. The launch seems to have been hit by the NTO 2.0 impasse and COVID-19.
