BBC CBeebies, a Kids channel aimed at preschoolers has expanded its distribution reach on pay-TV platforms in India with the addition of Direct to Home (DTH) operator Sun Direct.
Sun Direct added BBC CBeebies on its platform yesterday evening along with the addition of Tehzeeb TV. BBC CBeebies is now available on Sun Direct channel number 538. The pay channel is priced at Rs 5 per month and costs Rs 5.9 including taxes (18% GST).
Tehzeeb TV on the other hand is a Free to Air channel that has been added due to Ramzan. It is a Urdu channel that telecasts Namaz from Mecca five times a day and has grown at a swift pace in the last few years. Tehzeeb TV is available on Sun Direct channel number 786.
CBeebies is now available on multiple platforms across India. It is currently available on Fastway, NXT Digital, Akshaya Diginet, Tata Sky and Sun Direct. The addition on Sun Direct comes within a fortnight of addition on Tata Sky.
BBC as we had earlier reported, currently in talks with multiple distribution platforms and broadcast partners about its channel offerings including CBeebies. It will begin to roll-out this year and will make an official announcement later this year.
