High carriage fee ? Carriage fee rates are fixed in new TRAI era, it's 20 paise per box and if ch reach 20% penetration then no carriage fee for that chs

Bhai, can u please check and confirm if carriage fee rules r same for both FTA and Pay channels under new framework . I have still not gone thru details of this. Even if 20 p rate was applicable for some of these channels then annual carriage fee would have been very less compared to what they used to pay in earlier regime. I think there is some other issue or maybe Tata Sky thinks it is best to remove these channels for releasing bandwidth rather than earning few bucks.

This is a major problem. Operators will exercise their choice incase of lesser popular or niche channels like 9XO if similar carriage fee cap applies across channels. Though many crap channels will shut down but some good ones too will face the heat. I think 9X Media should convert their channels to pay mode , price each channel at Rs. 2 or 3 and give bouquet at discounted price then only Tata Sky will be forced to add 9XO

In fact making it free is safe as by paying a carriage fee they can be part of FTA channel list and having a chance to be accessible while being pay they have to be part of big broadcasters as it will be entirely on the customer to choose them. 9xO not being a part of Tata Sky is purely a payment issue where Tata Sky is saying it is discontinued by the broadcaster. There may be other reasons unknown to us but primary reason is fees as per rules you cannot deny a chance to a channel to be on the platform. Other such channel is Masti which Tata Sky don't want to do means don't want for xyz reasons in every 6 months it is on the removal list.
