Great News. It was bound to happen not only due to pressure from subscriber end but also due to the fact that earlier dispute about asking for Rs. 1700 crore to renew deal was not valid anymore. Current agreement will be based on new pricing model based on TRAI rules, till 29th December some temporary solution would have been arrived at. Fixed deals are things of past, now operators/broadcasters will find it easy to carry/launch new channels as broadcasters won't have to pay carriage fee for pay channels having more than 20% reach while operators won't have to worry about paying bulk amount in advance & try to recover amount + gain profit. Now on simply what will be in demand, it will be provided to us and we will have choice to pay accordingly. Many FTA channels will see shutting down bcoz of few takers & steep rise in carriage to get placed among 100 channels in FTA pack
