The old Disney Channel India show “Goldie Ahuja Matric Pass” is also showing on Bindass
Maybe the intention was to convert Bindass into a sort of Big Magic, given that Star Utsav is Disney's equivalent of Zee Anmol. But the big difference is that Big Magic is on DDFD.
Also, Big Magic was briefly positioned as a comedy channel with shows like Akbar Birbal and Uff Yeh Nadaaniyan. But there is only one channel in the comedy segment: Sony Sab. Big Magic realised it was futile to continue in that path and has found success with repeat telecasts since the accquisition by Zee in 2016. But Bindass had an established youth brand and this is a sure way of killing the channel as we saw with Channel V.
Disney's acquisition of Star has brought some positive changes, but the kids' and sports channels are not among them.
ZEEL have redesigned Big Magic recently very smartly. More Kids Oriented Shows with Old Shows + Cartoon Movies on every Afternoon helps in boosting the Content for the Channel. Avariability in DDFD further enhances the success for Business. Also ZEEL have decided not to rebrand the Channel prefix with Zee as Zee Magic rather keep the entity as Big Magic as before. Here pure Smart Strategy wins.By the way Big Magic is now positioned as a kids centric cartoon/gec channel and doing fine but surely was lot better in last avatar of comedy based channel when it was owned by Mr. Anil Ambani .
As acquisition is complete now - Star / Disney / UTV should come together and make sure that things should sorted out asap before any quake in their business. They are charging huge Subscription Fees and it's their duty to serve better for the sake of TV Industry & Subscribers.Actually since Disney tookover there have been articles published which mention that there is lot of problems and issues in their workplace and some sort of tension/tussle prevail between employees of both companies, Star India staff feels that they r being sidelined and layoffs/exits have also happened.
Disney India needs to do better at managing things else Star Network will land up with not doing well on ratings chart and ultimately suffering financial trouble
As I mentioned this things earlier - Star India lacks in terms of proper Homework before Revamping Bindass. They should first focus on the Theme of the Brand first. Whether they want to go with Comedy / Youth shows / Drama / Reality Shows / Music. Then a proper guideline for the Channel should be sketched and the vast Library of Star / Disney shows can be utilised and programmed On Air.All in all things do not seem well and surely these things got to impact creative strategy, planning and execution of ideas. Bindass revamp is the most pointless and bad, it seems like some random packaging was made and 2 shows picked up from old library were swapped with old programs. Absolutely no research, homework done.
Well Bindass was anyways not doing well as youth brand and needed changes, Star India could have brought excellent old comedy programs with catchy presentation /promos and got it listed on Free Dish... It would have turned out well. Star Utsav is fine with regular old daily soaps but as it seems efforts were not made in this direction.
