On 2nd March, we have our result declaration of State Assembly election...and a quite wrong time to Strike:hehe: ....
Results airs on FTA channels.
Anyways, is there any chance for this matter to get a direction by the end of this month?
I think this will end before the end of the week. You can't hold daily soap addicts for too long. Aunties would run out of neighborhood gossips by than too.

Good for cable operators if this matter resolves within this week....

Anyone tell AIDCF head to ask government for closure of whole NTO for cable tv only. 150-200 rs for all channels, that's it.This will boost the viewership of cable tv once again.

This is never gonna happen. Costs will increase with time and periodic inflation will take place. No one can evade that. People have to accept that consumer durables/consumables will get costlier like any other products they use.

And if this becomes the scenario, all other DTH operators will ask for the same and that might drive the big broadcasters to move to OTT completely and leave the linear tv space for free transmission platforms like DDFD without any new/exclusive shows.

If they are so worried about end consumers, why aren't they reducing the NCF to bare minimum like Sun Direct? That will pass on the benefits directly to the consumers.

This NTO directive was long due and implementation was also delayed a few times. Why they didn't contest it at that time, with the intensity they are doing it now!!

Satellite TV is a gone market. People who left aren't coming back even if they offer all channels for ₹100. They are desperate to hold on to existing customer atm. This is why they are protesting.

Damn, that is a wrong thing too. You can survive without cable. I recall an incident where cable operators was killed because they didn't had Neo Sports. Whole cable operators across state had some blackout hour to protest.

my mother started watching youtube with my Hotspot instead of watching colors and other channels .we watch colors only for bigg boss however colors started re-telecast bigg boss 13

1 thing broadcasters make money from repeat old series becoz new shows not interesting at all also ad revenue in directly we paying to them for old shows and for watching ads (20min ads in 1hour)

Television channels have huge potential to increase viewership, still most of houses doesn't have TVs in Villages and Rural areas. But Broadcasters, BARC and Govt always depends Urban and metro cities, they are completely failed use their resources.

What r u saying anna? DD Free Dish has biggest DTH subscriber base and large part of it comes from rural, semi rural or even urban areas where people having lower disposable income opt for it. Actually broadcasters themselves do not have clear cut strategy to cater to both FTA and Pay TV subscriber base, if they evolve such a strategy then both kind of subscriber base can grow and even FTA subscribers will upgrade in big numbers to Pay TV platforms

Analysts claims Mobile internet and Broadband is not growing huge way anymore in india Like cord cutting, it's huge advantage for Cable/DTH and broadcasters to huge potential growth but they missed opportunity from their own NTO/NCF.

Actually broadband, OTT is growing at fast pace...infact these platforms and even Cable TV r even exempted from paying licence fee.

Both digital mediums and traditional TV (DTH, Cable TV) have huge potential for growth if a well thought about strategy is implemented to cater to viewers of each of these mediums

DDFD should collaborate with paid DTH and Cable TVs in such a manner that for FTA channels they will air from DDFD sources and for any paid channel, viewers have to pay only for that channel and 18% tax. This should be given to viewers in a single box. It will benefit DDFD as well as Private companies. And, if broadcasters want to show their channels on DDFD (if they think some of their channels are not performing well), the E-Auction procedure should be same.

And why will Pay TV operators do this? They earn so much revenue as carriage fee from FTA channels and will never let go off this revenue stream. It is very costly to run a DTH or Cable TV business, revenues from various mediums is extremely necessary to have a financially viable business model. Already u can see that though Dish TV provides channels from DD Free Dish but gives them end LCN numbers and only when concerned channels pay carriage fee to Dish then they r allotted prime LCN number.

Also DD Free Dish business model has been created to provide free basic entertainment to people and thus has an auction process for selling slots on the platform. They would i guess be getting even transponders free of cost . Pay TV platforms have lot of expenditures hence they cannot even provide FTA (carriage fee) channels at 0 cost to customers and above all their aim is to maximize revenue/ profit which is not the case with DD Free Dish
