DTH operator and MSO have different customer base and DPO like TATA play with huge customers can ask volume discounts from broadcasters, but multiple MSOs can’t do

Wrong. In NTO regulations broadcasters cannot offer different type of discounts or incentives to a big or small operator. Rules r uniform and applicable for all operators. For example if a broadcaster mentions that if a channel is subscribed by 50% of subscriber base of an operator then operator will get 15% additional incentive (share of channel price) then same is applicable for s big operator having say 15 million subscribers as well as a small cable operator having just 1 million subscriber base

Earlier in the past, the Chairman of TRAI told us that they are bringing the NTO in which we have to pay only for those channels which we want to watch. But it is going in the way that how much we pay, the channels will we watch accordingly. So, according to this, we were watching more channels in the past at the same price as compared to now.
Where is he now ? India wants to know. 🫵😠

So we r undeed getting choice to opt or drop channels . Pricing is high bcoz broadcasters have raised channel as well as bouquet prices. Also allowing huge discount cap on bouquet prices also is not good as it allows for broadcasters to keep a-la-carte prices high and push bundled channels in bouquet at heavily discounted price. Broadcasters need to reduce prices and keep both bouquet and standalone channel pricing affordable

The pricing system itself is to be blamed. Ala carte price then addition to it NCF and above it 18% GST makes it intolerable.
NCF system is worst thing. For someone who watches 1 channel or 100 channels it's just same. 👀

So, greedy broadcasters have formed greedy packs too.😇
Star value packs are bundled with SS1,2,3 & SS First too. If I don't wanna see those then I don't have any regional specific package to opt for.

Buddy u were still paying monthly fee to operators in Pre NTO era which is now named NCF. Operators had advance long term deals with broadcasters in Pre NTO era thus getting channels at heavily discounted pricing and added their profit margins , formed DPO bouquet and gave it to us. Pre NTO era was worst time wherein we as customers had no choice to pick n choose our favorite channels and were only left to opt for DPO bouquets with lock in period. A-La-Carte prices were kept super inflated by operators so that customers do not opt for it. Also smaller operators did not get much discounts in channel prices while signing long term advance agreement with broadcasters while big operators got major discounts / benefits....everything was so opaque and unequally balanced. Also many DPO's underreported subscribers which was a major issue causing revenue loss to broadcasters even though i believe broadcasters tried to overcome this somewhat by charging more while signing long term deals for such operators where had they had doubts NTO regulations has brought in much needed reforms and helped sort much of the issues.

If broadcasters price both bouquet and standalone channels properly then we customers will get much needed & choice in real sense to make our own combo of channels. Broadcasters should leave it upto customers to opt for our favorite channels via bouquet or a-la-carte mode rather than keeping bouquet prices heavily discounted and making opting for standlone channel totally unattractive bcoz of it being costly

This entire NTO itself is such a disaster. Usually changes leads to growth of any industry. It's been 4 years. All I see is decline and failure. At the end of the day failure will be blame on growth of broadband adaption which is only half true. Many cut cord because they couldn't afford cable or atleast wanted to save some bucks on secondary connection.

Broadcasters have increased price. NTO regulations have no role to play in prices decided by broadcasters.
