Comedy Central to launch nine shows this May

MUMBAI: English entertainment channel Comedy Central is geared up to bring an array of nine new shows and seasons this month. For the same, it has also initiated an aggressive marketing plan to promote each of the shows. Starting today, the channel will present shows like ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, season three of ‘Suits’ (finale) and the popular game series ‘Wipeout’ as part of its new line-up.

Commencing on 5 May, the game show ‘Wipeout’ will air at 9 pm from Monday to Friday, followed by ‘Suits’ season three at 10 pm from Monday to Wednesday. The Indian premiere of the comic series ‘Sean Saves the World’ will air at 11 pm from Monday to Wednesday, while the American late-night satirical television series ‘The Daily Show’ with Jon Stewart will air at 11:30 pm from Monday to Thursday.

The popular chat show ‘The Kumars at No 42′ will commence on 8 May, airing at 10 pm on Thursdays. On 9 May, the channel will launch the South Asian sitcom ‘Citizen Khan’ season two, that will air at 10 pm every Friday. Popular American cop sitcom ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ will launch on 19 May, telecasting at 10 pm from Monday to Wednesday.

This will be followed by the season two of ‘Mindy Project’ airing at 10:30 pm from Monday to Wednesday. Comedy Central will culminate May with the launch of the popular comedy game show ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’. It will telecast on 31 March and air at 9 pm on Saturdays. The channel has added a fun element by creating activations, associating with brands to engage with consumers on a ground level. Viacom18 Media English entertainment SVP and GM Ferzad Palia said, “The channel’s objective has always been to bring fresh and funny content to viewers.

While we are going ahead with the great programming line-up, we want to ensure that the fans are entertained throughout, be it on air, on line or on ground. We have some unique and fun activation coming up, which I am sure will leave the audiences wanting for more.

” While ‘Suits’ sees the third season coming to a close, fans will get a chance to take away memories of the show by winning a personally autographed DVD signed by the all-star cast of Suits. Viewers stand a chance to win by watching the first episode of the show today, spotting the celeb guest on the show and answering the question on the channel.

The channel has also partnered with popular hangout places like Crossword Bookstore, Oxford Bookstore, Amoeba bowling, Aura Thai Spa and Golds Gym to bring an experience of ‘Wipeout’ by asking fans to participate in fun obstacles and laugh it off. ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ will see a similar nationwide roll-out promotion plan starting mid-May. Apart from this, Comedy Central is also placing branding across many offices to create buzz on the shows and the activations.
