Compressed Audio

Hi Members
I am using Sony Bravia W650A Full HD LED.Wow the sound quality is awesome when dolby digital plus activated through HDMI(I am using Airtel Digital TV).
I have doubt in sound mode there is options like standard,cinema,music,game etc and atlast there is an option that is compressed audio,when that mode activated good bass coming and also the sound quality is better than other modes of sound.
What is compressed audio and what happened when it become activated?
If any member Brothers know about this please help me.

Compressed Audio is used to improve degraded sound quality caused by compression, etc.

Its function is to improve low bit rate sound for internet movies or Audio.
