Friends I will surely miss my annual South Platinum HD pack. I get all the channels and get to watch them whenever I want. It got expired 2 days back, CC called me to recharge for 8900Rs and renew it. I argued back with them asking for new packs as per new TRAI rule. They said new packs are not updated yet and TRAI rule implementation date has been extended till 31st Jan and I can 'enjoy' uninterrupted TV viewing with the current packs. I asked them what will happen to my money if I recharge for this annual south Platinum HD pack now and if I don't get the same after new packs are declared. CC said that the amount will be refunded to TS account and will get adjusted against the new packs I will be choosing, for which they themselves will contact me after the plans get announced.

So, I have recharged for 8900Rs and got my Annual South Platinum HD pack now and my new validity end date is 1-Jan-20. Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that I will have this pack active till the end of this year, by which all of these issues would get sorted out and we will get clear plans in place.

@Siva bro : Can you predict what would be the monthly price of TataSky's South Platinum HD pack (which contains all channels in TS) approximately as per the new structure?

@UDHAY bro, I think you just need to go to the hathway website and select all the maximum priced bouquets (HD and SD) from all the broadcasters, see how much it comes to.

TRAI chief made it clear on News X interview today that LDP users can continue with same pack till expiry, so we both can continue our packs :)

As a tatasky user I am still happy. Now for around 300 I can watch Hindi main feeds, English movies, news, and finally cricket with infotainment. I will not take HD as for that OTT is here which gives real HD quality at very cheap rate. So for normal home purpose I am happy as earlier dhamal mix was costing this much and we know what kind of feeds were there. So in the aspect I am happy and waiting to see new packs eagerly.

Will the lock in period of 3months for sports channels be there after new rules?

Since I would not like to watch hindi free channels, why should I pay Rs.130 plus gst to the operator. If TRAI is saying us to select and to pay the channels to subscribe?

Subscribers number underreported is not the reason why new rules are made, new rules are made so that broadcaster and dpo fight never happen over fixed deal amount and no technology can help you to get the valuation right. Example Sony wants the valuation of their chs at 1700 crore but TS calculate it at 800 crore. So dispute aries and as a result blackout. And it's not the only case as we saw Star vs almost all DPO fight earlier before IPL
The only brighter side of this i see that many channels are priced at ₹1 to ₹5 but most of popular channels are charging above ₹10 and this pricing is main cause of making this new rule unfavorable to subscribers.
Regarding your question Whether i have gone through the lengthy pricing mechanism followed by TRAI, My question is Why you are expecting from a common many who just want to watch maximum channels at minimum monthly charges and read a complicated paper which needs solicitors mind ?
And why TRAI not issued a simple FAQ + Info in media yet to inform and educate millions of Cable/DTH subscribers ?
Another point TRAI overlooked that we are multilingual society wonder how they assumed that people prefer just One Indian language Plus Hindi/English Channels ?
A vast majority watches at least 3 language program So this new rule has created a very tough choice for multilingual viewers.
It is proven that in telecom rates TRAI always acted in favor of increased call/data rate & reduced data until JiO came & jolted market with Unlimited Call & high data.
Regarding subscriber base issue which is like Cat n Mouse game(even in this new system) the TRAI can play very crucial role by asking DTH/Cable Service providers to submit a Audit like detail of active connections.
Barring few all service providers are using new tech to activate deactivate consumer so getting consumer base audit report is not impossible.
----------------------------
From a common viewers vewpoint
He wants to pay maximum ₹250 in tear 2 cities specially cabled connection
A good number pays between ₹250-₹350 & very few more than that & this above ₹250 are mostly DTH subscribers.
