1. DTH GROWTH SLOWING DOWN?

For the six months ending June 2012, the industry added only 4.4 million gross subscribers, taking the cumulative gross base to 48.8 million subscribers, according to the latest report from Media Partners Asia.

2. VIDEOCON D2H LEADS THE RACE IN NEW ACTIVE SUBSCRIBER ADDITIONS:

Videocon d2h and Tata Sky as the major contributors to active subscriber additions in this period. Overall, Videocon D2H & Airtel DTH have done well in terms of active subscriber % i.e. they have been able to hold their customers and also attract customers who were with from other players.

3. SUN & BIG TV LAGGING BEHIND:

South-only focus (Sun) and poor customer service (Big TV) has caused Sun & Big TV to fall behind in the race.

In future, DTH Companies, which offers more HD channels can only survive.

Currently d2h is offering highest no. of SD & HD channels.. In future also they will do the same i think... After digitization all over India all DTH providers will get more subscribers.. SUN Direct & RDTV not doing much updates and not adding new channels too, SUN Direct adding channel sometimes but only of South region.. In that way they can't survive..

Glad to see that despite many uncalled for troubles Tata Sky still wins faith of the mass.

Dishtv Is number One And Tatasky Is number 2, Where is DD direct....I think DD direct Have More then 25% Market Share in india Because it is FTa Service Also Dishtv Subscribers Counting in Dd direct Auto.......

tata sky in race, some reason:-
1. The package is not mandatory, you can drop any channe at any time
2. You can choose any channel as ala cart and can drop any time.7
3. The quality is great [hardware and services like cc, repairing response]
4. Most important thing is all are waiting for launch of gsat 10 if after 3-4 month of launch, there are no channels addition. You can see most 50% user of tata sky will be go to shift other dth. Dish tv will not affect this because their most of users from rural but tata sky's most users are from urban and semi urban so they can afford other dth connection.

SOME CONCLUSIONS:

1. Airtel DTH leads the pack in terms of average growth since launch, Videocon D2H is second - these are the choice of the new customers opting for a DTH service :)

2. Tata Sky has the highest ARPU (Average Revenue per User), no wonder they seem pricey! :c

3. Airtel DTH again leads in % of active customers closely followed by Videocon D2H proving not only does Airtel DTH know how to get new customers, they also know how to retain them! :win

Really tata sky growth rate is very slow. And if they not add channels within few month they will be out of race. Reliance is already out of race and soon they can find new foreign partner.[for growth there is need of fund]

@sbhopale, what about sun direct, aren't they also out?
