Then its better to wait till it fully dies off, and then buy a new one. It is slowly getting outdated anyways, as it is only 1366x768. Moreover, the white portion doesn't really create that much of a problem normally, it only becomes noticable during dark lighting scenes in movies, especially for channels having black bars.
