Yes,Source is really important here because we can't let false news spread.

For example,If anyone updates about channel addition in a DTH then source is necessary because all other members can't put effort and find the source for that info because the thread starter might have got that news from anyone who works in broadcaster side or DTH side.

For other type of threads,@Bapun Raz bro itself said today...

Whenever we have taken inputs from any sites we have credited them by linking back to source of the news.

Hence,I'm concluding that source is necessary when we start any thread (IMO, source is not needed for seeking help )
