I have samsung 26 led tv and hd stb. In hd channels the image size is taller and thin comparing sd channels.

Like watching ind vs ban match players were looking thin and taller but in sd it was not so.

Because SD channels gets stretched on a 16:9 aspects ratio TV

below is a explanation using images

This is a SD channel(4:3 ratio) on a HDTV(16:9)
You wil get black pillars

And if you stretch it
It will look like this
