Buddy, please stop making such comments over and over again. These are not only devoid of merit hence do not add to any productive discussion. Disney-Star has a very large bouquet of channels, immensely popular OTT platform , film production / distribution studio and various other very successful / well established companies...they are managing all of it extremely well. Remember it is tough to maintain a fine balance across all these diversified areas of business operations.
You always bring up this argument of Disney-Star being biased to Tamil, Telugu audience which is "not at all true" and we have had long / detailed discussions on this topic many times in the past. About Star World being mismanaged under Fox Leadership or Disney....well again i have mentioned earlier too that back in 2014-2015 shifting all new programming to Star World Premiere HD was a mistake and above all making Star World Premiere HD a subscription driven channel was again not the right thing to do. As slowly OTT, Affordable Internet started gaining momentum there was a viewership churn bound to happen in English GEC or incase of other such channels. Covid further accelerated this decline in ratings of such channels as more and more people preferred OTT to consume such content, also wrong content/pricing strategy adopted by broadcasters further added to the woes. NTO has nothing to do with shutting down of niche channels or even popular channels losing out on ratings, issue is that broadcasters did not adopt NTO regulations in right spirit.
English GEC channels still can succeed if good curated content is made available to viewers and at affordable price, Finding / Searching content on OTT has various issues attached to it...it is not only time consuming , somewhat confusing, very costly to subscribe to multiple OTT platforms and internet etc.
Lastly each broadcaster has a different strategy, u cannot say that if Viacom18 is running English GEC channels then so should Disney-Star. Viacom18 still has a very small bouquet of channels or even scale of other business in broadcast or film production business is lot compact as compared to Disney-Star. Disney-Star has huge investments across their range of channels, OTT platforms, Film Studio and being an international company it needs to look at its worldwide business interests while taking decisions thus it is understandable if they accordingly allocate resources to all these businesses . They decided that it is more viable for them to shift English GEC content to OTT hence they did so while scaling up investments in acquiring content for their other channels or launching new channels or revamping / rebranding existing ones. Even on Disney+Hotstar they have extremely huge catalogue of content which is provided at very affordable pricing to the audience / people and even the Disney+Hotstar platform is overall quite good in all aspects.
I still feel that they should continue having an English GEC channel and hopefully they will reconsider keeping Star World on air like they earlier have shelved plans to discontinue bindass, Disney International HD, Disney Junior
