AXN - Overconfidence. Thought they will successfully merge with Viacom. Deal didn't went through.

FYI TV18 - No clue. I will say poor distribution. It was a unique channel. It had cheap to produce local shows which were popular too.

And you can clearly see that there is not a single channel from Viacom18 in this list! l

If rumours are to believe Viacom is preparing for a failure if they shut down Colors Infinity for Sports18 1 Tamil. BCCI can't attract crowds at stadium. Leave alone viewers than also regional viewers who are hooked onto to regional channel. And Star owns IPL and ICC rights

Reason for failure for English channels in the country

BBC Entertainment - Delayed digitalization.

BIG CBS Spark, Love and Prime - Delayed digitalization and dumb strategy of simulacasting same shows during prime time.

Fox Crime - Too many English channels in the market. Was treated as Star Utsav of Star World.

FX and FX HD - Clueless "people" destroyed sports market by putting live International events on HD only channel which failed miserably. To make up they shut down a successful revived GEC to relaunch.

9XO - Carriage Fees issue.

HBO, HBO, WB, HBO Defined, HBO Hits - Lending exclusive shows to a rival network and streaming platform. Failing to understand kids market. Dominance of Nick and Disney in kids segment.

Star World Premiere HD - Launch of Colors Infinity put them in coma already. Still was doing somewhat good with HBO's content. But new tariff order nailed the final nail in the coffin just like what it did to other niche channels.

Star World - Fate of Channel V. Shutdown despite being popular. It's being pushed towards shutdown for vested interest. The most popular show it had has become OTT exclusive. This will be most likely repeated to shutdown Disney International HD.

I think, NTO is also the criminal for shutting down these channels. Because earlier, they (HBO, FYI TV18, etc.) were included in almost all DPO packs. But after NTO, people are not wanted to subscribe these channels individually at high rates.
And the remaining work was done by Covid.
I am still missing movies like World War Z , Rampage , etc. on TV.
