More than this i am astonished as to why picture quality / resolution of old 90s , 2000s bollywood songs is so poor on MTV Beats.....it looks like 480p resolution for many old songs which get aired on this channel
I was thinking the same a few days ago. I don't know why, they are a big broadcaster; they have a huge audience to cater; they must think of it.

Neither Even Dubbed in Punjabi nor with Punjabi Subtitles, It is being played on a Punjabi Channel (even subtitles for English words are in Hindi).

Series on movie channel after shutting down GECs. This is Star desperately trying to ruin another channel for English speaking market.

Not ruining but trying to put existing resources to best use , a hybrid English GEC+ Movies Channel could be perfect mix if it airs good content....already Romedy Now has tried to implement this strategy and got success in attracting audience share particularly from women viewers which this channel primarily caters to

They didn't shutdown GECs to create hybrid channels. Nor did they turned niche movie channel into a repeat of your counterpart.

Star Movies Select will roll out proper content once its SD feed is available across major DTH, Cable, HITS platforms

Also we have already discussed that Star India under Fox made huge mistake when they pulled out new, good shows from Star World back in 2015 and shifted them to Star World Premiere + tried to make it a SVoD channel rather than subscription + ad revenue driven channel.....also Star India under Disney made a mistake to shut down Star World as they should have continued having 1 English GEC channel on air as there is large audience both regular viewers and emerging audience which likes watching content on TV Channels as OTT still remains a niche offering and has various constraints associated with accessing content on it

Anyways in near future we may see Disney-Star again trying to cater to English GEC, Youth audience by rebranding, revamping certain channels and even launching kids movie channel with multi audio feeds

We may as well see Disney entering News Genre via some alliance with existing network

On OTT front too we may see more of syndication agreement, partnerships being formed to increase revenues

Overall their focus will be to grow business focusing on areas where return of investment is good which is why they r trying to forge a merger with Reliance so that both companies can together utilise their resources to full potential in respective strongholds

Did you ever watched Star Movies Select HD? They committeed to offer a new movie every night. Forget about 365 days, 365 stories. They are airing same Marvel garbage. Star Movies airs. Why have two channels than? Also old movies like The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, The Grand Budapest Hotel etc. has permanently left TV screens years ago.
