Guys,

Airtel is charging additional NCF fees if you

  • NCF = Rs. 130 (w/o tax) + Rs. 23.4 (GST) = Rs.153.4 for first 100 channels
    and Rs.20 (w/o tax) + Rs. 3.60 (GST) = Rs. 23.60 for every 25 additional channels

  • One HD channel shall be treated equal to two SD channels for the purpose of calculating NCF

When the NCF pack (mandatory) is only loaded with almost 100 channels then even if we subscriber for 1 more channel
we have to pay additional fees of Rs. 23.6.
We end up paying for the channel as well as additional NCF charge to Airtel which is against the rules of TRAI.

This is not the case in other DTH like Sun Direct.

They are asking you to pay for bundled FTA channels?

Bundled FTA ?
Its a new one and no other DTH has these charges.
Yeah, it's should come complimentary since it's Airtel bundled. Have you highlighted this to Airtel customer service?

I talked with call center person he showed gross in-cognizance and kept on arguing that we charge this fees because of new TRAI rules
when I explained to him that no other DTH is charging this fees he did not give any answer and kept on insisting this is beacuse of new rules.

Airtel bundle does not imply FTA bundle pack, it signifies the charges for airtel customised base pack u have subscribed. Also airtel is not flouting any rule, for first 100 chs (1 HD = 2 SD) Rs. 153 is applicable on primary connection while initial slab charge is Rs. 94 incase of secondary connection .

Apart from discount on NCF airtel is also giving broadcaster bouquet at lower price which r included in various customised base packs. Not only this but for secondary connection additional NCF is not applicable if u take any airtel base packs and do not add additional chs above it.

Lastly airtel is also counting 6 or 7 chs less or even more in various packs or individual bouquet selection done by subscribers thus giving room to add few channels without worrying about hopping onto higher NCF slab

Most of operators dont charge for FTA's ,NCF calculation is done for Pay channels only ,Both in Dish ,D2h and sun direct, better wait for year end and migrate to better operator since interoperability is to be launched End of this year

Well most of FTA chs r covered in complimentary bundle pack and that holds true for all operators while certain FTA chs r out of the net and one has to include it separately thus counted in NCF slab. If one compares then airtel is giving max channels, discounts, benefits and best quality/ value for money product at present

Ncf pack only consist of DD channels. FTA bundle which is Airtel providing at 0 cost not bundled in this pack . Your Airtel bundle is not the FTA pack , it's the customised airtel monthly pack u have selected.
Don't defame unnecessarily.

No discount on NCF is given it is Rs. 153, secondary connection I am not using lets not bundle that in this discussion.

FTA Bouquets - North and South have 99 channels in it.
Distributor Bouquet FTA -- Have more than 90 channels in it.
As we need to select either one of the FTA's as it is mandatory, then if we take an
add-on regional pack of say 5 channels, then additional NCF kicks in.
This is what I am opposing.
