Yes,I noticed too..It wasn't before..
There is a very valid reason why star/disney is airing IPL on Star Sports 2, Star Sports First, Star Gold and Star Gold 2. Ofcourse aim is to maximise revenue, this is the last yr of current IPL rights cycle and that too now its is business end of the tournament, not only star/disney does not want to make losses for current cycle incase they do not win next bidding rights but even if they do win rights they would not like to carry forward losses but infact would love to have max revenue / profit whatever possible. We know it well star under disney will not overspend on rights as Star under Fox did
Having IPL or BCCI rights is catch 22 situation, more so in former case... They do give broadcaster great viewership but come at extremely high cost thereby needing tailor made content/scheduling / strategy to recover investment or make profits.... On other side broadcaster can skip these and invest a wide sports portfolio, even managing to generate average profits by mix matching things but this does not give big viewership like India Cricket does. You must have read same in recent articles posted why sony wants to get IPL or BCCI rights back bcoz ad spend for same is almost 80 percent (if i remember right) of all sports

They have a Dugout feed. Experts analysis are good. This is completely ad-free broadcast after 15th over. Even ads are minimal. But the whole thing feels like a advertisment hub. They will mention sponsors every other minute. Go gaga over car ads, highlight cashbacks, talks about fantasy cricket etc. Meanwhile the commentary during sixes are not accurate as they are watching on screens themselves. Also crowd noise is ridiculously low. So we are required to subscribe to Star Sports 1 HD along with Star Sports 1 Select HD to get the best experience out of both. Star sure knows how to capitalise.
You r right bhai. Dugout commentary happens from studio though i do not watch IPL but friends / relatives do tell same thing that commentary/ analysis is good on it. Ofcourse the promotions they do on air is way to generate revenue, all these companies must b paying premium amount for this. Surely star/disney knows quite well to capitalize out of each of its sports property and channels, they made specific strategy for mass and niche sports which works well

Seems Star will broadcast IPL 2022 on Star Sports First from next year in full swing and that would be exclusively for DDFreeDish users. This will not just improve their IPL reach but also add more sponsor revenue and they better got idea about it. Because it's very hard to earn the money which they are putting in future IPL rights.
If this happens then Star Sports First might first have to become DD Free Dish exclusive channel but i think TRAI regulations do not allow it. Surely Star Sports First won't air all matches if it is available across platforms, few select weekend matches or important matches might air, that too with aim of making viewer interest develop thus hopefully making them switch to pay platforms like MSO or DTH. They can even air on Star Utsav Movies thereby catering to both pay and Free Dish platforms incase Star Sports First is unavailable on Free Dish but this is less likely as SUM won't get high ad rates as Star Gold does and obviously they will never air it on both movie channels. Infact i do not like them airing sports on movie channels, i would love if such select matches r kept exclusive to Star Sports First without disturbing experience for movie viewers like us.
Tonight will send feedback to star / disney about this and tag sports cluster/ movie cluster head in tweet.... Also will mail to [email protected]. Another thing i will mention is airing Premier League on Star World when Select 1 is busy.
If on a day where there r 2 IPL matches and overalap happens thus making Star Sports 2 air 2nd match while 1st continues on main channels then later when 1st match is over does SS2 keep airing 2nd match or stops it. If it stops then same can b used for Premier League too.

TRAI has no right to interfere in what perticular network want. Star can air any show, tournament, feed which they own on any channel even they can air Anupama on Star Sports and IPL on Star Bharat it's upto them.
I am saying that as per rules broadcasters cannot make channel exclusively available to a platform. All operators r free to add/ sign RIO for all channels /bouquet. Ofcouse broadcaster r free to decide content strategy
