We can expect the response from centre in one or two weeks time..

The way TN CM is pushing for the license this time looks like its the all time high pressure (seems like a demand more than a request) to the Center to grant license and now they positively would give license within a few days (I think max 7 - 10 days) or face the TN Govt Anger which the Center wont want at all costs, at-least not at this very moment. So probably we can hear a positive reply within a weeks time.

So nice to see such a nice ad on press, so something can be expected to happen after 1 week, either they file a case (already they seem to have dropped multiple stone and all of them seem to have just sunk) or Arasu takes over and shuts them permanently, lets hope people get the benefit.

Centre should give license atleast before this month end..

DAS license should be issued to entire parts of TN..

Yes, too much delay. We have lost the patience. While entire TN has arasu for over 3 years most of the Chennai still cries for access to pay channels. :angry :angry

Issue 1: DAS License - Arasu has a CAS license and with no DAS implementation Arasu can very well go ahead with STB implementation, and we just don't know what delays them.

The Ministry had granted provisional CAS permission (licence) to Arasu on 2 April, 2008. This CAS licence has a complete permission to distribute and operate cable service via STB. (Manish Tewari on Feb 2014)

Issue 2: STB Seeding - Who can stop an MSO with CAS license to supply STB and seed the entire TN when there is no DAS implementation in the state?

Arasu can even give digital signals or seed STBs as TRAI can’t take any action against it, given that the MSO has a temporary license. (Manish Tewari on Feb 2014)

Issue 3: Operators unwilling to cooperate with Arasu.

Why cant Arasu just use its muscle and take control of the entire system legally and go ahead with CAS implementation?

Supply STB for those who can afford straightaway and analogue to those who can wait for an STB. Once DAS enters Chennai then slowly the analogue can be converted to DAS with a basic 100 or 200 Channel worth low cost STB for basic package viewing.

Arasu can even purchase an STB license and start its own factory (or some private who can do this) in some Sipcot complex for manufacturing basic low cost STB (Within Rs 500) for those who prefer a basic pack of 100 channels.

Nearly 20 lakhs subscribers using analog connection in chennai..

And 65+ lakhs subscribers are using Arasu analog in TN (Rest of chennai).

So around 85 - 100 lakhs analog connections persists in TN..

If they digitise atleast 50 - 70 lakhs connections (out of those 100 lakhs) before the 2016 TN Assembly elections, then it would become harder to stop Arasu in future by TRAI or any other govt..

We said the same 2 years back and still we don't have Arasu :-/ :-/ , hope Arasu really comes to Chennai. :'( :'(
