Streamline functioning of Arasu Cable TV Corporation
Members of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a demonstration here on 21 November, demanding the streamlining of the functioning of Arasu Cable Television Corporation Limited, established for the purpose of providing cable signals to the public at an affordable cost.
CITU District Secretary M.Sivaji, said, the government had established the Corporation with an objective to provide cable signals to the public at affordable cost through Multi System Operators (MSOs) and Cable operators but the purpose has been defeated with MSOs in the district acting as private operators.
He alleged that the five MSOs appointed for the district were acting against the interest of the government by presenting deflated number of cable connections in the district.
Despite being paid maintenance charges by the government, the MSOs collected Rs. 5 to Rs. 15 per connection from cable operators, he alleged.
The Government has provided generator facilities to the MSOs to ensure uninterrupted cable signals during power breakdown, but they seldom used the generators during power failure, he said and wanted the government to take over the operations.
The protest was also to urge the government to withdraw the practice of collecting one per cent interest per day for delayed payments by the cable operators, he said.

Who cares what happens in Chennai?
SCV seems to want Analogue to continues as it can force people to watch a selected set of SCV owned channels and Arasu seems to not interested in Chennai and often issuing some statements that never reach the Daylight. TRAI looks as if Chennai is in some other planet.
Chennai and its people are struck with the private monopoly MSO and Arasu and both seems to convey the same strong message...

மற்ற பகுதிகளுக்கு ஆன் லைன் கட்டணம் உள்ளிட்ட பல மாறுதல் சீர்திருத்த திட்டங்களை, பொதுமக்களுக்கு நேரடியாக கொண்டு வந்த அரசு கேபிள் டிவி நிறுவனம்... சென்னை(டிஜிட்டல்) மக்களிடம் மட்டும் ஏனோ தயக்கம் காட்டியது... அவர்களுக்கு என்ன பதில் சொல்வது என்றே தெரியவில்லை டிஜிட்டல் சேவையா அல்லது அனலாக் சேவையா என்பதை வெளிப்படையாக தெளிவாக்க மறந்துவிட்டது என்று தான் சொல்லவேண்டும்...!! அந்த மறதியும் இன்று வரை தொடர்கிறது...!!
ஆனால் அந்த மறதிதான் இன்று வளம் கொழிக்கும் தொழிலாக மாறியுள்ளது...!! சென்னையில் அரசின் அனலாக் சிக்னலை வைத்து non-ஆப்ரேட்டர் உருவாக்குதல் என்ற பெயரில் பக்கா பிஸ்னஸ் நடந்து வருகிறது என்று பெயர் வெளியிடவிரும்பாத ஒரு சென்னை ஆப்ரேட்டரின் கருத்து...!!
சிறிய ஆப்ரேட்டர்களின் இணைப்புகளை non-ஆப்ரேட்டர் என்ற பெயரில் அபகரிப்பதில் தொடங்கிய இந்த வணிகம்... தற்போது நேரடியாக பெரிய ஆப்ரேட்டர்களை மட்டுமே குறிவைத்து நடைபெற்று வருகிறது எனவும் கூறினார்.
இது முழுக்க முழுக்க பேரத்திற்காக மட்டுமே நடைபெறுகிறது என்பதையும் கூறினார்.
இது பேரத்திற்காக மட்டும்தான்... சென்னையில் உள்ள அரசு அனலாக் சிக்னலை பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர்.. என்று கூறியவர்... அதற்கான காரணத்தையும் தெரிவித்தார் ...ஏனெனில் அதில் தான் எந்த ஒரு முதலீடும் இல்லை எனவும்... non-ஆப்ரேட்டர்களை உருவாக்குபவர்கள்... ஏன் அவர்கள் டிஜிட்டல் சிக்னலை கொண்டு உருவாக்குவதில்லை...? என்ற அவர் அதில் உள்ள உண்மையை தெளிவாக்கினார்....!!

Today i met an LCO from annanagar while he was doing some maintenance work and he was telling that Arasu is coming to annanagar any time soon (he sounded like it could happen within a month or two) but he said that he is worried about the very poor quality feed from Arasu and no proper response from them on that and this is what took so long for Arasu to land and this could be again become a reason for another set of delays.
