Hold optical has limits of 5 channels, the correct ways to connect is stb->ht->tv(arc) through HDMI.

His TV should support ARC

Connecting TV -> HT via HDMI will solve the problem.

Yes, but now i day's all HT which supports DD will have HDMI, the very older HT will not have HDMI

He has F&D HT so I asked him for the model no so that we can see if it has these ports

I think F&D models that I had demoed in croma do not have any kind of digital inputs like HDMI, optical etc.It is true for all the models I guess.
Though they give 5 speakers with a sub woofer, The sound played is not Dolby and equal in all speakers.

Yes there is no HDMI or no optical slot

Then bro u will not get DD/DD+ audio. U will get only stereo.

For Digital Audio you need HDMI/Optical Cable.
