Brother,picture quality of sd channels is not depend on the hd stb it is depend on the tv we are using.The sd is best in CRT no doubt about that and if we use hdmi for led or lcd we get better picture quality than av using in led or lcd.The quality of sd channel is a very important facter of the picture quality in led or lcd,for eg:star plus sd quality is good in led and lcd because of the quality of the broadcasting.
One more thing is our tv manufacturer.In Sony led and lcd they are have better mpeg noise reduction.It is helpful to get better picture quality in sd channels.

What do u mean by " i m not using tv..." ?
As far as I know LCD and LED are TV. connect both boxes to same tv and check
