i think in future JIO name will be used only for their telecom business and whole entertainment will go under STAR..... slowly name JIO will be dropped completely
So News18 will be STAR News

Everywhere on social media, including Reddit, people are trashing JioCinema left, right, centre for its terrible UI, poor user experience and cheap name. Everyone seems to want JioCinema to merge into Hotstar by keeping Hotstar name.

The merge also includes Viacom18 Studios ( Viacom 18 Studios, Tipping point , Colors studios) and Star Studios which will eventually merged to form single entity and distribute Disney paramount and indian films too.

They might stop trashing, once D+HS shuts, content moved to Jio cinema (Jio Star). :ROFLMAO:

They might become even more aggressive when faced with Hotstar's content in a poor UI, leading to a bad user experience. The fact that D+HS has more subscribers and users means that, when these users are forced to adjust to JioCinema's poor quality, which even current JioCinema users dislike, the backlash against JioCinema will increase even more.

RIL will invest huge money into the merged entity, so they can improve the app. Hotstar was same situation when they launched in 2015.

Ngl but RIL’s approach to JioCinema leaves much to be desired. They seem more focused on quantity over quality. From what I have seen, there is little to no attention given to the app’s layout, UI or overall user experience. Their priority seems to be acquiring content rather than enhancing the platform itself. Despite launching in 2016 and rebranding in 2023 after merging with Voot, JioCinema still suffers from a poor layout and UI, which reflects their indifference to these aspects.
In contrast, Hotstar also had a rough start but steadily improved over the years, becoming much more user friendly. Thats the main difference between the two.

If RIL were to focus on improving the UI, user experience, and fully rebranding the app, it would be actually good thing.

Jio Cinema sounds for free app till now, once hotstar content moved, they might change the whole content to pay mode, then app will stabilize slowly.

Totally.

The problem with Jio is that they want every single thing to be prefixed with "Jio". And considering Jio is a telecom brand name, it should not be incorporated with a streaming service app at all. Now if you go to My Jio app they have now brought JioTV and JioMart into it as well. They are very untidy. Wont be surprised if in future they buy some sanitaryware brand and call it "Jio Toilet" LOL.

Actually buddy they want all of the digital assets and even some retail assets to be kept under Jio branding which is okay and even having separate section to promote the same on MyJio App is not an issue.

However some members saying that Jio Cinema is more popular these days is not at all true, be it in paid subscriber base or even regular viewership Disney+Hotstar still i believe is far ahead of Jio Cinema plus has many other advantages + very strong brand recall value....content wise too Disney+Hotstar still is very strong though yes Jio Cinema is expanding its content portfolio largely in Niche Content genre
