Thats not true, Jio cinema has lucrative entertainment contents like Bigg boss , KKK which drives in excess viewers during its period.
Major issue with indian services are they dont create brand which can be leveraged. bigg boss was not created by viacom but they pillaged the heck out of it. It has 2nd highest viewer base only to IPL. HBO shows or other premium show market is very low, But jio cinema used this opurtunity and started to dubb these shows in regional language.
so its clear that even if hotstar had all chance to impress , failed to do.
hotstar high bundled users. so if a network provider drops the service, 80% wont re subscribe
That property isnt owned by JioCinema itself. Just like the IPL, they have the rights to broadcast it, and its airing on both Colors and JioCinema because they obtained those rights. Isn't that correct?? Recently, JioCinema even removed all previous seasons of bigg boss prior to BB15 due to rights expiration. If, tomorrow, another network pays a hefty sum for the BB rights, they’ll get them. So what exactly does Colors truly own?? Nothing.
Hotstar has a large number of bundled users, but what about JioCinema, which is included in every Jio recharge pack?? Aren't these also bundled users?? Most Indian OTT platforms are surviving with bundled users, so whats wrong with Hotstar having them as well?
