That is only because Star doesn't have many good old Kannada movies. They have average or bad movies usually.

Old serials will get better ratings.

Suvarna plus and Star Vijay Super launched as 2nd GEC channels
Suvarna plus within a 6 months entered in top 5 channels of TAM ratings
After year they made Big mistake channel converted to movie channel and Full channel overall ratings decreased
Vijay Super flop channel last year Star revamped this Flop channel with new Dubbed premieres got Big Response and now top 5th channel of Tamil
Still Star don't have Dedicated movie Channel in Kannada and Tamil

We can't guess Star Startegey
They are planned Telecasting old serials and shows if these rerunning shows get good response
Than may be they will Start original shows for prime time

It clearly indicates that Star is planning something big for Kannada market. After increasing ratings of Star Suvarna, now they are going to convert Star Suvarna Plus as a GEC for getting more ratings. It's mean they are planning to launch Star Suvarna Movies as a separate channel. Hope we can see Star Suvarna Music in near future too.

Indeed it's a great move.
Suvarna plus can be made into a FTA channel just like it was done with Star Utsav which had rerun of old serials it'll get good viewership. And a separate movie channel as a paid channel can come up to compete with Uday Movie and upcoming Zee Picchar.

All serial timings are in the same order from 7.30pm to 10pm, when Suvarna was at No. 1 position. They must telecast pyate hudgeer halli lifu, halli aidha pyateg banda, pyate mandi kadig bandru of season 1. Latest seasons are kind of drama or fix

If they change their color or graphics or logo a bit, it would be like a renovated house after years of dirt. It would definitely gain some more viewers
