KAATRU VELIYIDAI' -TAMIL NADU BOX OFFICE COLLECTIONS REPORT



Earlier today we had reported the collections made by Mani Ratnam's 'Kaatru Veliyidai' in its opening weekend in Chennai ALSO READ : True story behind 'Kaatru Veliyidai' prison escape sequence
Now we bring you the performance of the film in theatres across Tamil Nadu in its first three days.
Sources within the Tamil Nadu Box office trade reveal that 'Kaatru Veliyidai' has collected Rs.12 crores in its first weekend. Thanks to the brand Mani Ratnam and A.R.Rahman who are continuing their association without a break for the past 25 years the film has taken a gargantuan opening across the state.
The TN theatrical share includes Rs.1.55 crores from Chennai, Rs.3.5 crores from Chengalpet and Rs.1.8 crores from Coimbatore

KARTHI -VISHAL 'KARUPPU RAJA VELLAI RAJA' LAUNCH UPDATES


The official logo and announcement of the multistarrer ‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ was launched today. The film directed by Prabhu Deva has Karthi and Vishal as the heroes while Sayyeshaa is the leading lady.
‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ is jointely produced by Prabhu Deva Studios and DR. K Ganesh for which the music score is by Harris Jayaraj. The story is written by the late director Subaash while Subha are writing the screenplay dialogues. The film will go on floors soon

Prabhas ready to give seven years for Rajamouli!




Prabhas garnered National fame with Bahubali and the actor was in Chennai promoting his movie, Bahubali: The Conclusion in Tamil too. The first part, Bahubali: The Beginning became a sensation in every language it released and since, the franchise was planned to be bilingual that is, shot both in Tamil and Telugu, the film took even more time to complete. But the important fight sequences were shot just once and only scenes involving important drama were shot in both languages.

Prabhas thanked all the Tamil media for promoting their film and also promised that he will make a direct Tamil film soon. The actor was praised by director Rajamouli for giving three and years of his career and he called him a Fool for doing so but he is thankful for taking such a decision for his movie and giving him such a huge commitment after being in a success streak. Responding to his words, Prabhas said he likes Rajamouli style of direction and storytelling to no bound and he decided to give him three and half years as he knew the director would make it worthwhile.

He also commented that he would happily given seven years commitment even if he was required to for Rajamouli and the movie like Bahubali deserves as much as time it requires to come out the way it was supposed to. Prabhas called the experience to be physically strenuous during the first movie shooting and for the second one Rajamouli took lot of care about editing the action scenes to make it easy for the actors. Ramya Krishnan, Satyaraj, Anushka, Tamannah Bhatia, Nasser were present at the function. Tamannah shared that she spent more time with Anushka for this movie and they both have become good friends. Dhanush was invited to the function as chief guest and the actor expressed his happiness for the team and wished all the hard work to pay rich dividends

WILL THE NEW DECISION IMPACT THE BIGGIES OF 2017?


The Tamil Nadu Distributors Association had an important meeting this morning, 11th April to make some decisions regarding film distribution and trade practices.

At the end of the meeting, the committee has firmed up their decision on not to buy any movie on MG (Minimum Guarantee) basis in Tamil Nadu. Only through outrate or normal distribution, film business will happen. Many distributors have shared their opinion on the same during various occasions, and this decision would've come as a happy news for all of them.

The practice of buying a film on MG basis has been a practice for a decade now, and the impact of the new decision made by distributors Federation on the business of the biggies will be a key observation in next few months

BHARATHIRAJA NEVER LIKED ME" - SUPERSTAR RAJINIKANTH






At the grand opening ceremony of Bharathiraja International Institute of Cinema Superstar Rajinikanth's humor laden speech was well received by those in attendance. He heaped praise on his '16 Vayadhinile' director by saying that he was a man of a clean heart and that is why right from MGR to K. Balachander shared a very close relationship with him.


Rajinikanth jokingly added that Bharathiraja always used to wonder why people did not accept him as a hero in 'Kallukkul Eeram' but accepted Rajini. He also said that the National Award winning director never accepted him as a good actor

SHIVALINGA', 'KADAMBAN' & 'PA. PAANDI' FIRST DAY CITY COLLECTION REPORT


The Tamil New year weekend saw a varied fare at the box office as the wholesome entertainer 'Shivalinga', the emotional love story 'Pa Paandi' and the forest adventure movie 'Kadamban' fought to woo viewers.


At the Chennai city box office Raghava Lawrence-Ritika-Vadivelu combo bagged 29lakhs on the first day followed by Arya's 'Kadamban' taking 17lakhs and Dhanush's directorial debut 'Pa Paandi' doing 14.5lakhs business

AFTER 'VIP2' DHANUSH TO START ONE MORE SEQUEL OF A SUPER HIT MOVIE


Nowadays sequels are becoming the norm not only in Hollywood and Bollywood but also in our own Kollywood. Dhanush has just completed his 'VIP2' directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth the sequel to his blockbuster hit 'Velai Illa Pattadhari'


Director Balaji Mohan announced early last year that he is writing the script to the second part of his super hit 'Maari' in which Dhanush rocked as a "thara local don". It is now confirmed that the scripting is in the final stages and shooting is all set to begin in August this year. NIVIN PAULY'S SAKHAVU 1ST DAY COLLECTION REPORT


Nivin Pauly starrer Sakhavu directed by Sidhartha Siva released yesterday, April 15th worldwide as Vishu Special. The initial reviews were majorly positive, though few section of the audiences feels a mixed response. Sakhavu had a limited release in Chennai as it was released on a Saturday and along with 3 big Tamil films.

The Day 1 gross collections of Sakhuva at the Kerala BO is reportedly collected close to 2.2 Crores and this is one of Nivin's best opening in recent times. Superstar Mammootty's Puthan Panam is the other Malayalam film which released for Vishu, 2 days earlier on April 13th

MAMMOOTTY'S DREAM TO DIRECT SUPERSTAR RAJINI






Malayalam Megastar Mammootty recently revealed a long lost dream of his to his followers in an interview with RJ Mathukutty. The national award winning actor said that he wanted to direct the movie "Bhoothakkannadi" with Superstar Rajinikanth as the central character.

The Malayalam film, written and directed by Lohithadas was released in the year 1997 and had Mammootty in the lead. It won the Kerala State Award that year for the Best Film and Mammootty bagged the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance

Mammootty said that he had discussed the story with Rajinikanth, but somehow nothing materialized and back then he also did not feel like pressurizing Rajnikanth into doing the film.

The movie is the story of Vidyadharan, a clock Smith who lives with his daughter in a small village. After his wife's death from to a snake bite, Vidyadharan developed a paranoia about snakes. He lives next to his childhood love Sarojini, whose husband had left her with a daughter. Their world is turned upside down when Sarojini's daughter is gang-raped and killed. Vidyadharan confronts a local drunkard who he suspects to be behind the dreadful deed, and accidentally kills him. He is sent to jail and while serving the time he starts seeing a family of blind singers who live at a hill top with their beautiful daughter, through a hole he found in the prison wall. He sees a constable misbehaving with the daughter which ends with the family's suicide. Angry Vidyadharan attacks the constable accusing him of murdering three innocent people. Only when the Jail Warden inspects the hole, it is revealed that the entire episode was Vidyadharan's imagination
