Talking slightly off topic, when content cost is same and most are doing simulcast of programs, what is point of having SD & HD version of same channel. Only difference is bandwidth cost which comes under NCF. Earlier they made money in old regime by making customer pay twice for SD and HD channels. Nw they should stop SD channels which do simulcastng.

No way. There are people without LED/HD television screens. No way SD simulcast channels will get dropped for the next 10 years or so..
What non-LED TV has to do with HD channel? HD channels run on CRT TV also.

He probably means the SD STBs. DPOS either have to force the HD upgrade to everyone for free or they can provide downscaled SD feeds for HD only channels on the SD STBs, once the broadcaster stops providing SD feed. Either way, as it's not an easy process, SD broadcasting/simulcast can't go easily.

Digitalization and NTO was forced. Why not force users to upgrade to HD?
I think after few years, it will happen automatically. NTO will help in pick up of HD provided broadcaster donot price them arbitrarily. Once viewership of HD goes up and SD come down they will shut down... Are SD STB still being sold? If it is, then TRAI should stop SD STB sale first. Because 5yrs later if broadcaster stop SD voluntarily, thn also some ppl have to buy HD STB again.

Not a single pack below 100 NCF. All are around 130 and providing FTA channels..
All dth provide FTA without counting it for NCF. Let me know if they charge less thn 100 NCF. Screenshot will help
count the channel's price available in the Curated Pack,
e.g. Sun DPO 1 BN costs 198, now if we count the price of the channels (bouquet & a-la-carte) which are available in that pack, then you can find out the NCF is around 80rs.

Do they allow alacarte in addition to this curated pack without taking NCF for extra added channels?

I have a different thought on pricing in Scenario 2.
SUN TV is the most important and flagship channel from SUN network, so I don't think they will take any decision that could affect the reach and rating of SUN TV channel. In case they decide to retain the higher prices, they may do it for the other popular channels.
IMO, People will buy Sun TV, even if they retain the high price, because of the very reason, it's popularity. It's reach shouldn't be impacted, even if they continue the same price. However, If they keep the other popular channels out of bouquets and price them high, people may not buy them at all, thus affecting their reach.
