I have taken I year ARP Pack in adtv. This will be same after implement new rule or not.

But in the Order,
It was further proposed that distributors of television channels would charge a monthly rental amount of maximum Rs. 130/-
(excluding taxes) per month from a subscriber for subscribing a network capacity of 100 SD channels.

I think this is now the standard explanation everywhere. Every user has to pay Rs.130 + pay channel costs for any 100 pay + free SD channels we require. HD channels will be treated as 2 SD channels. If this is the case then its better to continue using our old packs for as long as possible.

Example 1: User wants 80 FTA SD channels + 10 HD sports channels. (total capacity 80+(10*2)=100 SD channels)
User Pays 130 + Sports HD bouquet 170 = Rs. 300

Example 2: User wants 20 FTA SD channels + 40 pay SD channels@ 10 each + 20 HD pay channels @ 20 each (Total network capacity=100)
User Pays 130 + HD 20*20= 400 + SD 40*10=400 Total= 930

Example 3. User wants 100 FTA channels + 20 SD pay channels@ 10 each (Total network capacity used =120)
User pays 130 + 20 (additional network capacity) + 20*10= Rs.350

Take this tariff order similar to CAS regime in 2007.Now DTH/MSO cannot charge you extra for Pay channels.Like a channel available for ₹19 from broadcaster will be available to you at ₹19 only not more.So to run their business they will provide you 100 FTA SD channels for basic rate mentioned (₹130 ) from which they will have their income apart from carriage fee.

If one chooses a la carte mso/dth doesn't get anything.

This Rs. 130/- is not just for basic tier fta channels, but for network capacity. Even if we take pay channels as alacarte we have to pay 130/ to enable connection. According to law they still allow us to take only alacarte but additional 130 fee will be deducted per month.

For alacarte of pay channels:

Provided that if a subscriber opts for pay channels or bouquet of pay channels, he shall be liable to pay an amount equal to sum of distributor retail price(s)for such channel(s) and bouquets in addition to network capacity fee.

Then how everyone is saying that monthly tv rents will come down? For me it'll go very high.
It's better to go for a ARP now only.

Basic service tier pack can have any 100 fta channels, with minimum 5 FTA channel in each genre. If genre does not have 5 FTA channel then no need to follow this rule. My guess is that this base pack will be a complete waste. The question really is can we take pay channel bouquets without this base pack.

Correct this base pack will be a waste bcoz it will have all teleshopping ad cannels and lowest quality movies music & entertainment fta channels

No, you can't continue with this pack if it's validity end before 30th December because current basepacks will be removed from 31st December or 1st Jan. If you want to continue with current basepack then go for ARP.

Yes, it'll be a useless pack because broadcasters have converted their FTA channels into Pay channels.
