I request TRAI with the following proposals and suggestions:
1. The prices of channels not available in any packs should be prices at MRP of Rs 10 instead of Rs 19.
2. The GST on DTH & Cable should be 5-12% instead of existing 18%.
3. If GST is 5% then NCF for 1st 100 SD channels should be Rs 100, and if GST is 12% then NCF should be Rs 50
1. Earlier rule set in 2007 had max value of a channel set at Rs 15. How can you lower value after 10 years given that currency devalue over time?
Ref : sc judgement around page 85 star vs trai case
2. Telecom and broadcasting is a money making machine for govt to make up budget deficit. India from the independence has published budget more than its revenue. So how do you make up those deficit considering tax on fuel is already 100% ?
One way to solve this is to publish budget which matches revenue but then you will have to cut spending somewhere else like farm loan subsidiaries or building infra and health. I don't think any govt will do it as it's more important and relevantto public life than entertainment.
You have any other idea ?
