Well there are articles that mention zee-sony and Disney-Star had behind the scenes understanding while acquiring ICC rights to outbid Viacom18. Yes, disney is cautious about not overspending but they require sports or other content to gain viewership for their TV Channels / OTT platforms so they would tak certain but fewer risks.

Star India has very large bouquet of TV Channels and very successful Disney+Hotstar OTT platform, they r in top 3 of ratings charts in most genres and in OTT space too they r quite ahead. Witg such massive business there r bound to be certain issues as TV + Digital Landscape sees constant transformation and intense competition + other things lead to evolving strategies

Anyways Disney will address all these issues as i have stated in previous posts and will continue to be leading broadcaster
Times have changed dino bhai.. Viacom is leading and will lead broadcaster. Surely disney will sell off business and bid adieu.. disney didnt change with time.. they were lacking in every front even their studio pre show and post show were lacking eminent sports personalities.. they were hiring new faces as host and local type shows were producing comparing with sony during ipl that were top notch.. so everyone will remember star as Kodak brand.. i know it takes time to digesg this fact but thats the truth..

Just wait for few years just like airtel faced huge hurdles/issues in telecom sector when Jio launched and for 4 or 5 years airtel continued to take on the challenge with appropriate strategy thereby retaining many customers who continued to pay little more to enjoy better services and now with freebies by Jio getting toned down airtel is again seeing immense growth in subscriber base and businesss similarly Disney will also come out shining.

More so Disney had very vast broadcast business, apart from few challenges in OTT or Sports channels segment i do not see much other problems which Disney would have to face bcoz of Viacom18/Jio.

As i have said Disney will work out a solution for all of the shortcomings and problems in gradual manner

Now Disney wants grow as streaming giant like Netlfix with high ARPU, not dependent on others as TV broadcaster with reduced profits day by day.

But the Fact is Jio is number one telecom company and that too in within months of launch they replaced airtel that was since ages there.. also in wired broadband segment jio became number one player and still airtel fiber is far behind.. also jio was the one which increased internet usage in country from 1 gb month to now 25 gb per day.. also jio was the one which brought down price of 1gb internet from 250 to 10 rupees.. thats called path breaking strategy…

Disney cant and will never become like netflix.. forget netflix they cant even compete with alt balaji now.. there major share of viewership came from cricket matches which is now not there..
Disney spells High words, but functioning light. They lost IPL, BCCI cricket and big movies to rival streaming apps.

50k crore for above rights? :D Other than IPL(20k cr), other rights are below 5k cr. King Kohli will play another 3 years for IPL, Tests and ODIs.
ICC Rights itself valued 24K crores. CA, PKL and few more there high profile rights, Even if Sony airing ICC Men’s events through Zee they have to pay to Disney only.

King Kohli can't help for everything, best example Srilanka, New zeeland tour of India big failure in terms of Sponsorship/Revenue in January this year. Advertising sponsors always want big Series/events like India vs Pakistan, BGT, Ashes, IPL and leagues.

ICC TV rights sold to ZEE/Sony. They won't shutdown Disney+Hotstar, so they keeps digital rights in future.
