My guess is that this channel will air Tamil movies like Surya TV. It wil be odd if they play Tamil content with the name Zee Malayalam.

Original tamil movies are accepted than dubbed in kerala. Although dubbed also had viewers. But if channel had rights of original then they will not go for dubbing. But I don't think this is a factor for the naming. Zee Malayalam sounds good than Zee keralam.

Without dubbing, how can malayali people understand tamil language?
If I start talking in bengali, will u be able to understand? Similarly I will not make out your own mother tongue. So translation or dubbing is extremely needed. :wink:
