DTH operator Independent TV on Monday asked the Telecom Disputes and Settlement Appellate Tribunal for partial modification of the arrangement that was ordered on 2.7.2019 by the tribunal in the case against Antrix Corporation.
The DTH operator asked TDSAT to modify its arrears so as to clear the arrears of Antrix before the new arrangement kicks in. The operator also asked for further help from Antrix in facilitating an agreement between the petitioner and some other entities who provide transponder capacity.
The tribunal allowed Independent TV to approach Antrix with a detailed application or containing its request and the offer of liquidating its dues. If such a request is made, Antrix shall consider the same earnestly and expeditiously without being prejudiced by the pendency of this application. The tribunal also noted that ” The figure of past indicated on 2.7.2019 are tentative and parties will be at liberty to reconcile the accounts in that regard. “
The DTH operator’s inability to restart its services is down to the freezing of its accounts. Sanjay Bhati a promoter of the company is in jail with allegations related to Bikebot scam. Independent TV has been buying time regularly by making excuses such as heavy rain in Mumbai. The DTH operator is unlikely to restart its services ever again given the scenario.
