Indology, a jewellery shopping TV channel has gone off air temporarily in view of the precautionary measures to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.

The channel went off the air on Sunday putting up a notice for its viewers. While TV channels have been permitted to operate despite the restrictions with the I&B Ministry requesting State Governments to ensure continuity of print and electronic media, Indology has taken the decision in support of social distancing.

Indology has put a notice on its channel which states, “To stop the spread of COVID-19 and support social distancing plus stay at home, we are going off-air for a few days. Indology TV will be back with you very soon.”

All essential services including DTH, Television, Telecom etc continue to run with reduced staff to avoid the spread of COVID-19. The channel has promised to be back on air soon. With India going on lockdown for another 21 days, it is highly unlikely that the channel will come on air before May.

Indology had initially launched in India as Gemporia TV. It rebranded to Indology last year. The broadcaster provides direct-to-home pricing, where the jewellery is directly sent from the factories to the customer’s home, getting rid of the middlemen and making the cost come down.
