Tata Sky strengthens Punjabi offerings with new additions

Direct to Home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has after a gap of period finally strengthened its Punjabi channel offerings with the addition of TV channels on its DTH and Mobile TV platform services.

Yesterday, three Punjabi channels were added by Tata Sky on its DTH platform. Living India News, PTC Punjabi Gold and Balle Balle are now available on Tata Sky at LCN 1924, 1925 and 1926 respectively. All three are SD and FTA channels.

2 Punjabi channels have also been launched on the Tata Sky Mobile app. Ek Onkar and Fateh TV are now available on the Mobile app. Fateh TV is a satellite channel while Ek Onkar is a regional cable channel. These channels are only available on the Mobile app and not on the set-top box.

Airtel Digital TV vs Tata Sky : Punjabi Offerings Comparison

With the recent additions Tata Sky is now offering 17 Punjabi channels on its DTH platform while Mobile TV app services carry 11 Punjabi channels.

Rival DTH operator Airtel Digital TV continues to the leader in Punjabi channel offerings with 19 SD channels on DTH platform. It however lags behind Tata Sky in Mobile TV app offerings as it offers only 5 Punjabi SD channels and 2 service channels.

Airtel Digital TV has been the preferred launch partner for newly launched Punjabi channels this year which extended the gap between Tata Sky and Airtel’s Punjabi offerings this year.

Airtel also recently launched Mauja Hi Mauja pack specially for Punjabi market targeted to increase its penetration in the Punjabi market. Tata Sky is all set to renew the fight for new customers in the Punjabi market with Airtel after the new additions.
